Dougz X-Wedge Prototype Bike
After adding two inches to the backbone and bottom rails the chassis is ready for the X-Wedge and XW-R transmission.
A quick install of the sheetmetal early in the mock-up, using wood blocks under the rear fender and spacers under the gas tank gives us a feel for the ‘balance’ of the bike
Rolling Thunder makes a heavy duty front motor mount.
A mini stretch of the gas tank fills part of the gap between the tank and seat area that was created with the backbone stretch.
…and the custom seat pan fills the remainder of that gap.
The completed mock-up. Ready for paint and final assembly.
The exhaust was created using a shortened Bassani 2 into 1 Bagger muffler and stock H-D primary pipes - modified to match the port angle of the X-Wedge.
I decided to use Dyna mid controls on this build which put them 1 ½ inches forward and ½ inch lower than stock FXR. The brake arm needed to be modified slightly to function properly.
A stock 2003 Carbureted Softail harness made wiring the bike almost plug ‘n play.
